Installed at “Whitehall Technology Park” in Charlotte, North Carolina, “Metalmorphosis” is an extraordinary contemporary sculpture that enchants all visitors to the park. Observed at close range, the sculpture has the guise of a close-up thanks to its layered, reflective surface. As the observer moves further away, the sculpture transforms into a giant head, made of mirrored layers that rotate around themselves.

The sculpture weighs 14 tons and is made of stainless steel. It has been designed in such a way to be able to rotate 360°. The enormous installation, located in water, was designed by Czech artist David Cerny and is an example of how modern materials and technique can have a huge impact on the worlds of art and design.
